OK! So now that you have become infected with the domain name bug and if you haven’t shouldn’t you be asking yourself why not?

America along with the rest of the world has just lost its proverbial shirt throwing hard earned money blindly into the stock market, funds of all sort, and real estate investments. How is your 401K doing?

But think of this, one of the premier advertisers at the super bowl this year (2009) was Go Daddy, Go who most people where thinking. Literally three or four years ago Go Daddy was just some passing fad servicing the fools that turned out to be today’s millionaires.

It is not a passing fad, it is here to stay and you better get yours before they are all gone.

Go Daddy calls its reseller brand Wild West Domains because that’s just what it is, the new land rush. You can build any amount of web sites. You can as much hosting space as God. But without a domain name you have nothing. The domain name comes first it is vital, and paramount. Next you construct a website around your domain name. Then you find a hosting provider to host it. After that the name of the game is traffic.

So the above statement doesn’t refer to you and you are well and truly hooked and by now you have a small to sizeable portfolio of names sitting there parked for free at Go Daddy possibly, earning Go Daddy some money, but definitely gaining them some stats to let them know if it is worth keeping when you let it expire.

Every day on the after market auctions names that someone for whatever reason let expire sell for four figure sums. If no one bids and it is a useless name anyway it will become available again on the open market for registration fee. If however someone knows from having access to the stats that the name is getting traffic well consider it sold.

The reality is, as stated on another page, that the availability of decent quality dot com names is like the cod fish stock in the North Atlantic Ocean basically zero.

Try registering any first name like John or Tom you won’t get one even is .ws. Just like land in Oklahoma it’s not there for the taking anymore.

A nice portfolio of say one hundred good dot com domain names is the best retirement plan anyone is going to have in the next twenty years

The problem is that your one hundred dot com domain names have to be renewed each and every year and with nothing coming in and no stats to show you if you have winners or dogs you just might decide to get back into the stock market. After all $750 to $1000 in renewal fees every year with no seeming return is kind of hard to take.

So what to do; The easy answer is paid parking or parking with someone like Parked.com or Sedo.com who will pay you a percentage of any revenue generated by your domains.

This is a list in no particular order of the most popular parking destinations. I’m sure that I have omitted some great Parking Companies, so don’t neglect to do your own due diligence

  1. Sedo.com
  2. Parked.com
  3. Go Daddy.com
  4. TrafficZ.com
  5. Fabulous.com
  6. Gold Key.com
  7. Name Drice.com
  8. Domain Hop.com
  9. Noomle.com

Sedo offers some nice add on with a parking account. You can list your domains for sale and will not be charged a commission on the sale if your domain is parked at sedo.

www.GoDaddy.com out 80% of revenue but it is paid parking, that is you have to pay a monthly fee of $9.99 if you opt to pay monthly. If you pay yearly it comes down to $8.99 a month and if you pay for 24 months it comes down to $7.99 a month.

www.GoDaddy.com also has a 60% pay out plan for $3.99 a month, $3.59 for 12 months and $3.19 for 24 months.

Keep in mind that the 12 and 24 month plans are paid in advance and if it not working out for you then your money is spent

Why Park offers an alternative to conventional parking. For $100 upfront they allow you to park up to one hundred domains. From your Why Park control panel you can add your own key words, meta description, Google code and stat analytic code. Depending on your keywords Why Park automatically draws in relevant articles to your site. You can also add custom pages which allows you to write your own articles and have a links page. You can also ad affiliate banners and code. Keep in mind that the links page allows you to back link your sites helping to create Google Page Rank.
This ability alone makes
Why Park a great option.

Noomle.com offers a similar service to Why. Currently Noomle is free. So it is definitely worth a try. I have an account with Why so having already put up the money up front I will probably stick with them. However I have opened an account with Noomle.com and will try them out with a few names. Park Park

If you have hosting you can also buy ready made sites add your Google and affiliate code and see how it goes. Easy Martini.com and Cars Limited.com are sites made by PPC-Sites.com

Google also has a program for parking domains. It is called Adsense for domains Even though they say they are not taking any more accounts, I will do no harm to apply.
